Hernán Medrano — Visual Storyteller, Filmmaker & Creative Director
My vision
Hernán Medrano is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, designer, and photographer based in Mexico City, whose work merges conceptual clarity with emotional depth. With over 100 projects across film, commercial campaigns, and visual design—including collaborations with Leica Store México and renowned visual artist Miguel Milló—his creative voice is one that commands both aesthetic strength and narrative intention.
Educated at SAE Institute México and further trained in Scandinavian Film and Television at the University of Copenhagen, Hernán approaches the audiovisual medium as a form of authorship. Every frame, every cut, and every composition carries weight. His storytelling is cinematic, yes—but also precise, conscious, and deeply human.
As a director, he orchestrates image and sound to evoke silence, tension, or revelation. As a designer, he creates visuals that do more than decorate—they speak. As a post-producer, he understands rhythm as emotion and detail as a narrative engine. His command of tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop is not just technical—it’s expressive.
Hernán has directed over 40 short films, including Un Mal Necesario, a documentary on mental health, and Donde Habita el Silencio, a fiction short exploring the limits of grief and isolation. His independent work reflects a commitment to visual language as a vehicle for thought, while his commercial experience demonstrates an ability to translate brand values into compelling visual narratives.
At the core of his practice lies a conviction: that every project, whether personal or commissioned, is an opportunity to elevate ideas—to give form to what others can only sense.
He doesn’t chase trends.
He builds meaning.
